Xiaomi reportedly patented a new face mask in China. According to Xiaomi’s description, it offers better fit and protection from viruses. The company introduced its first anti-air pollution mask in 2016, and this new patent suggests that a new mask with upgraded features may be in the works.
GizmoChina spotted this patent and the description indicates that Xiaomi new face mask offers a three-dimensional support skeleton for better fitting around the face. The skeleton is made of plastic, which is easy to adjust to fit comfortably on the face. It offers better air restriction, which again means polluted air will not enter through gaps and it lowers the chances of catching an infection. This mask helps to improve protection from viruses and air pollution.
As Xiaomi plans to launch this mask, there is no word on it, and a patent filing is no sign of a possible launch. Xiaomi may or may not launch this product entirely and what Xiaomi is doing with this patent remains to be seen. The market for masks has increased many-fold due to the coronavirus outbreak. While COVID-19 disease spread through close contact with infected people and therefore masks worn as a precaution. The COVID-19 positive cases in India have started to rise, and the country recently went into lockdown for 21 days.
