Twitter Launches Hide Replies Feature: Twitter finally updated a new feature named “Hide Replies” globally. This Twitter update lets users hide replies they think are irrelevant, off-topic, annoying, and changing the course of the discussion on the platform.
This Hide Replies option for Twitter may be offensive, hateful or racist has rolled out globally in iOS, Android, Twitter Life, and twitter.com, the micro-blogging platform said.
The Twitter new feature was designed to balance the conversation on Twitter application by putting the original poster back in control of which replies to their tweets remain visible. Hide Replies has been one of Twitter’s more controversial features. While no replies deleted from Twitter, the user chooses to hide they’re placed behind an extra click. That means the trolling, insulting, irrelevant or disagreeable comments don’t get to dominate the conversation.
“To give you more control over the conversations you start, we tested the option for you to hide replies to your Tweets. We learned that this feature is very useful to manage your conversations. Today we are making this available to everyone globally”, said Twitter.
Twitter’s Hide Replies Feature
- People mostly hide replies that they think are irrelevant, abusive or unintelligible.
- People likely to reconsider their interactions.
- Maximum 27% of people using their tweets hidden said, reconsider how they interact with others in the future.
Ultimately, the feature found to be useful in helping people have better conversations.
This found to be effective when used against tweets that deterred from the user’s original intent. Users viewing the tweet thread will have the option to manually reveal hidden replies.
